If ever there was a boring moment with Elena Ostapenko, we missed it. The Latvian simply has his own attitude towards her.

She was back in good shape on Saturday in Miami as she scolded the crowd after a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Players from Brazil are getting a lot of support in Miami, and Ostapenko apparently did not appreciate this.

“I am very happy with today’s victory,” Ostapenko said on the court after the victory. “Of course, the crowd was mostly against me – a little disrespectful – but thanks to the guys who supported me, I really appreciate it.”

Further, Ostapenko spoke about her experience in the mixed media area at the Miami Open.

“The crowd doesn’t know that if they’re up against me, I play a lot better,” she said, according to Tennis.com’s David Kane. “All I wanted was to win to show them that I won the match. This is the only thing you can do when you play with such a crowd.

“In general, the tournament is, of course, pleasant, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Everything was just too crazy today.”

Ostapenko will face Martina Trevisan in the round of 16 in Miami on Monday.
