Bianca Andreescu left the court in a wheelchair on Monday night in Miami, forced to retire with a lower left leg injury that was clearly tormenting her.
On Tuesday, the Canadian provided reassuring information about her status by mentioning her foot rather than her ankle in a social media post.
“Woke up with a bandage on my leg… does anyone know what happened?” Andreescu wrote. “Seriously… that was the worst pain I have ever felt… praying for nothing serious. Still waiting for official results. Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words, they did not go unnoticed.

The 2019 US Open champion experienced a resurgence, playing very well in a loss to Iga Swiatek in Indian Wells and victories over Emma Radukanu, Maria Sakkari and Sofia Kenin in Miami before losing to Ekaterina Aleksandrova due to retirement.
We’ll just have to wait for the next update to find out when we’ll see the 22-year-old world No. 31 continue his ascent…
