Posted by Mark Eisner: Heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba (16-1, 13 KOs) will take on his replacement Stefan Shaw (18-0, 13 KOs) in a 12-round bout on ESPN tonight at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona. The event kicks off at 10 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN+.
Ajagba probably wished he still had to face Oscar Rivas rather than the tricky Shaw, but he got injured and had to be replaced at short notice.

In the main support bout, heavyweight Guido Vianello (10-0-1, 9 KOs) will take on a powerful punch from Johnny Rice (15-6-1, 10 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

“I love this match for both guys. Efe Ajagba is the guy that everyone who sets up and everyone in the room knows what he’s looking at, which is that big right hand,” Andre Ward said of the 6ft 6in Efe Ajagba who was recently beaten by Frank Sanchez .
“He is endowed with strength, and this is a natural blow. As we saw in his only loss, if you’re going to beat Efe Ajagba, you probably won’t be standing in front of him and trading. He’s going to outbox him and that’s what Stefan Shaw is bringing to the table.
“He is a good boxer; he is patient; he is coached by my former Olympic coach Bashi Abdullah. So he has a good teaching, and this is the key to victory. Can Efe Ajagba do anything other than just set up his right hand to compensate for Shaw’s boxing?
“Will Shaw be able to take the right hand and find another pass in this fight, in this fight with Efe Ajagba?” Ward said.
“First, Ajagba’s loss to Sanchez. Do you know what happens when a rough, big puncher faces a Cuban boxer with a deep amateur past? You can take L,” Kellerman said. “This does not mean the end of your prospect status. It just means you were misplaced.”
